Indian-American woman Manga Anantatmula to run for US Congress from Virginia (The Indian Express)

An Indian-American woman, who raised her voice against alleged discrimination in the admission of Asians in IV League schools, has announced that she will run for US House of Representatives, saying she wants to be a -voice, not a noise- for the community particularly the Hindus in the US.

Andhra Pradesh-born Manga Anantatmula, who worked as a federal government contractor in defence acquisitions programme management, has already become a presumptive nominee of Republican party from the 11th Congressional District of Virginia, making her the first Indian origin candidate to run for the House of Representatives from there. Amy Coney Barrett sworn in at Supreme Court by John Roberts (Washington Examiner)

Judge Amy Coney Barrett has now become Justice Amy Coney Barrett.

On Tuesday morning, Chief Justice John Roberts administered the judicial oath to Barrett in private in the East Conference Room of the Supreme Court, making her the 103rd associate justice on the Supreme Court.

“Upon administration of that oath, she will be able to begin to participate in the work of the Court,” the high court said in a press release on Monday. “A formal investiture ceremony will take place at a special sitting of the Court in the Courtroom at a later date.” [Read More]
