EXXON ENDS OPERATIONS AND INVESTMENTS IN RUSSIA

By WMAL.com

The oil-giant ExxonMobil announced Tuesday that they would be halting a major oil and gas project in Russia, as well shutting down any new investments. As one of the most powerful companies in the world this continues the trend of the economic damage that lies ahead for Russia following their invasion of Ukraine.

  • Shell and BP: have also made similar pledges to divest from oil and gas projects in Russia.
  • Sakhalin oil and gas project: is Exxon’s only current project in Russia, according to the statement released by the company. Investments into the project will be ceased.

ExxonMobil Spokesperson: “ExxonMobil supports the people of Ukraine as they seek to defend their freedom and determine their own future as a nation. We deplore Russia’s military action that violates the territorial integrity of Ukraine and endangers its people.”
