Following the world’s opposition to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine over the past two-weeks Russia has surpassed Iran as the most sanctioned country on earth.
- 2,778: the number of new sanctions that Russia has faced in less than two weeks, according to Castellum.AI dashboard – a site dedicated to tracking new sanctions against the country.
- 5,532: the number of total sanctions currently imposed on Russia. This number adds the 2,754 sanctions that were placed on Russia prior to its invasion of Ukraine.
- Iran: currently stands as the second most sanctioned nation, with a total of 3,616 sanctions. Syria and North Korea are not far behind with 2,608 sanctions and 2,077 sanctions, respectively.
The United States and countries across western civilization have been highly critical of Russia’s invasion into Ukraine, as sanctions are not expected to slow down any time soon.
