Psaki to Leave White House for MSNBC

By WMAL.com

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki made waves on Friday when it was revealed that she was in exclusive talks with MSNBC to leave the White House and join the liberal network.

  • Not a surprise: there has been speculation for weeks that Psaki was considering leaving the White House for a job with a mainstream media network.
  • Critics are quick to point out that Psaki has been extremely generous to reporters from the networks courting her services, while she has remained stand offish against White House correspondents like Fox News’ Peter Doocey.
  • What’s next: Psaki is said to be in exclusive talks with MSNBC to join their new streaming platform Peacock. While it was speculated that she may be a possible candidate to replace Rachel Maddow it is unlikely that, that will happen at this time. She is expected to primarily serve as a voice on different shows for the immediate future.
  • Treading carefully: while no contracts have been signed yet, Psaki will surely be treading lightly in the coming weeks as government ethics include provisions on how public employees can pursue new jobs in the private sector. Psaki is in especially murky waters, as she routinely works and provides statements from the White House to the very networks who are trying to hire her. Both her predecessor took a similar path, with Kayleigh McEnany joining Fox News and Sean Spicer hosting his own show on Newsmax.
