Bullet Fired Through Window of Virginia AG Miyares’ Offices

By WMAL.com

On Tuesday evening it was reported that a bullet had been fired through the window of the offices of Virginia General Attorney Jason Miyares. The bullet was found by a housekeeper on the sixth floor of Miyares’ offices on Monday.

While no one was injured by the projectile, Capitol Police are investigating the situation. At this stage in the investigation, there is no indication that the bullet was targeted for the Attorney General’s office intentionally, according to a statement released by Miyares’ Chief Deputy Check Slemp. However, the statement released by Slemp did state that there would be an increase in Capitol Police presence in the office for the time being.

This past weekend Miyares took a firm stance against those protesting at religious gatherings over the leaked report that the Supreme Court was preparing to overturn Roe v. Wade. “I deeply respect the First Amendment rights of speech and assembly,” Miyares tweeted Friday. “But no one has the right to interfere with the fundamental and natural right of all Virginians to practice their religion in peace.”
