After District Dogs flood, a DC woman loses second puppy months later

Julia Eisen – WMAL News | November 27, 2023

For the second time in four months, a DC woman is living through a tragedy concerning a beloved pet.

Teffiney Worthy was walking her French Bulldog puppy, Hendrix, home to her apartment in Northeast DC when a teenager wearing a mask approached her.

“He said, ‘give me your dog or I’m going to kill you,'” Worthy recalled to 7news. “It looked like he had something black or velvet in his hand.”

The teenager then grabbed Hendrix, hopped into a black Sedan and fled the scene.

“He ran off laughing like it was nothing and I’m pleading for him to give the dog back,” Worthy told 7news.

The incident was captured on a doorbell video and police are looking for the suspect.

This is the second time in four months that Worthy has lost her pet. Her first dog was one of the ten pets killed in a flood at District Dogs, a doggy day care facility, in Northeast DC.
