On Tuesday, President Donald Trump announced several initiatives intended to lower drug costs in the United States.
These include launching a TrumpRx direct-to-consumer website that offers medicines at reduced prices and reaching an agreement with Pfizer to decrease the cost of many of its products.
Sen. Roger Marshall, R-Kan., told Newsmax on Thursday that Trump’s plan is “going to drive down prescription drug prices.”

A large number of those are on a prescription drug,” Marshall said during an appearance on “Wake Up America. “When I talk to folks back home, one of their biggest concerns is the cost of prescription drugs. And it’s because there’s so much out of
“Pharmacy benefit managers have dominated the scene. They’re taking 50% or more out of every dollar. They’re running community pharmacies out of business. So what this is going to do is — Trump is going to drive down prescription drug prices.”
Marshall, who is a physician himself, noted that Americans need to make across-the-board lifestyle changes as the first step to combating chronic illness.
“We’re so blessed with miracle drugs out there,” he said. “We have the greatest innovators in the world. But this is going to make them more affordable. It’s going to force European countries to start paying their fair share as well. But at the same time, let’s not forget America’s very sick — that 70% of us have a chronic disease, and we need to go back and take a look at our lifestyles, at our diet, at the water we’re drinking and those types of things as well.”
