WASHINGTON – (WMAL) A man from Landover Hills has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of attempting to provide material support for ISIS, along with attempting to murder a federal employee.
Nelash Das, 25, is a citizen of Bangladesh. The indictment alleges Das attempted to provide support and resources to ISIS from October 2015 to September 2016, though federal officials have not detailed what specific resources Das tried to provide. Court documents say Das had planned to kill a U.S. military member, as ISIS had been encouraging attacks on service members recently, going as far as posting identifying information about specific military personnel.
Das is also charged with using and carrying a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence. He faces life in prison.
