WASHINGTON – The Trump Winery in Charlottesville is slowly doling out more of its wine to retailers in our area according to Rande Jenus, co-owner of the Wine Cabinet in Reston.
Thursday the store got in six bottles of the Trump Meritage, which is the best-selling Trump wine at the Wine Cabinet. The store also got a limited quantity of the Blanc de Blanc sparkler.
Chardonnay remains out of stock.
His partner Mike Mackie told WMAL in mid-February they had just gotten in a very small shipment of Trump wine after having been sold out since before the inauguration. At that time, other local stores including Wegmans and Total Wine were also out of Trump wine.
Jenus doesn’t expect the new bottles to go flying off the shelves.
“The craziness has kind of subsided,” he said.
Jenus said nobody has asked him about Trump wine in the last few days.
“Even when everyone was calling for it, it wasn’t that crazy, if you know what I’m saying. There are much more sought after wines, regular wines, non-celebrity wines, non-political wines that people really enjoy more,” Jenus said Thursday.
Wegmans grocery store hasn’t been able to re-stock its supply of Trump wine yet. A spokesperson told WMAL they should have more by the middle of March.
WMAL reached out to the Trump Winery but didn’t get a response.
