WASHINGTON- (WMAL) Live! Casino is raising the stakes in the growing competition among Maryland casinos by opening its newest luxury hotel Wednesday in Anne Arundel County with hopes of being at the forefront of people’s minds as their gambling destination.
When asked if the construction of the hotel was in response to MGM National Harbor, which includes its own hotel, President of Live! Casino & Cordish Global Gaming Robert Norton said that they’ve had plans to construct this hotel from the very beginning.
“We’ve had plans to add these amenities since the development of the casino. We’ve always believed that Maryland is a great market and have had in the master plan the addition of hotel and these amenities since before we even broke ground,” Norton said.
He said that in comparison to other hotels in the state, Live! Hotel is “by far the nicest hotel in the state of Maryland,” touting “exceptional rooms” and a close proximity to Anne Arundel Mills Mall.
And to ramp up their game in this casino-competition, Norton states, “‘Why would you stay anywhere else?’ is quite honestly the question that should be asked when you have to pick a spot…We have everything you need right here at your finger tips, stay and play, and why stay anywhere else?”
An event center is slated to open in the near future, which Live! Casino bets will draw consumers who are looking to enjoy some entertainment. Norton said that they’re hopefully releasing the lineup of entertainment within the next week or so.
“On top of the hotel, and the spa, and the event center, quite honestly we haven’t sat still for a single year. In the near future, we already have another year-and-a half to two years worth of projects planned to keep this property the premier entertainment destination in the region,” Norton said in respect to the ever-growing casino.
The hotel’s opening falls on the sixth anniversary of the casino, but the public can expect a grand opening celebration for the hotel on July 11.
