Despite reopening plan, some Virginia churches choosing to remain closed (WRIC)
Churches in Virginia can start hosting in-person services starting this weekend as part of phase one of Gov. Ralph Northam’s reopening plan. Leaders at several places of worship in Richmond told 8News they aren’t ready to move forward just yet.

Senate confirms Ratcliffe as Trump’s intelligence director (Politico)
The Senate on Thursday confirmed Rep. John Ratcliffe as President Donald Trump’s top intelligence official, in a move aimed at ending nine months of reshuffling at the top of the nation’s spying establishment.
Lawmakers voted 49-44 in a party-line vote to confirm the Republican congressman from Texas as the sixth director of national intelligence since the office was created in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The split was a contrast to the 85-12 vote in 2017 that had confirmed Ratcliffe’s predecessor, former Republican Indiana Sen. Dan Coats, and comes amid an escalating feud between Trump and Democrats over the political use of intelligence. [Read More]
Trump doesn’t wear coronavirus mask to Ford plant, after being told he should (CNBC)
President Donald Trump on Thursday did not wear a mask for coronavirus protection while touring a Ford Motor Co. plant in Michigan, despite a state law and company policy requiring facial coverings there.
Trump, who has consistently refused to wear a mask in public, was visiting Ford’s Rawsonville Components Plant in Ypsilanti, which has a policy of requiring masks there. The plant is currently making ventilators in response to the Covid-19 pandemic in the United States. [Read More]
