President Trump ripped former President Barack Obama in an early morning social media post accusing him of gross incompetence and providing Iran billions of dollars and a path to developing a nuclear weapon.
Mr. Trump vented his anger after midnight on social media hours after Mr. Obama had lashed out at Mr. Trump during rallies for Democrats in Ohio and Michigan.
The Republican president noted that Mr. Obama had campaigned in Michigan for Hillary Clinton and former Vice President Kamala Harris and both lost their presidential bids to himself.
“Now he’s campaigning for a Muslim Brotherhood Jihadist, who hates Jews and Blacks and AMERICANS and TRUMP, and he is going to lose, also,” Mr. Trump said on social media.
Mr. Trump is slated Sunday afternoon to campaign with Michigan Senate nominee Mike Rogers in Port Huron.
Mr. Obama campaigned Saturday for Michigan Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed in Detroit. He also campaigned Saturday in Cleveland for Ohio Senate nominee Sherrod Brown and gubernatorial nominee Amy Acton.
Mr. Obama lambasted Mr. Trump in Cleveland, calling him “you know who” and pointing out that prices have gone up since Mr. Trump took office.
“After two years of chaos and cruelty and corruption and incompetence, the likes of which we have not seen in the modern era, you get a chance to say enough is enough,” Mr. Obama said in Cleveland.
Mr. Obama said the nation had never experienced a president who could “excel so wildly at straight-up grifting.”
For Mr. Trump and Mr. Obama, the gloves are off as the two leaders battle for their respective party’s control of Congress.
The Michigan race is a dead heat and is considered critical in determining whether Democrats can flip the GOP-controlled Senate. The Ohio Senate race is statistically tied between Mr. Brown and Republican Sen. John Husted.
“Obama was a grossly incompetent President! He paid off Iran with $Billions, and gave them a road to a Nuclear Weapon,” Mr. Trump said in the early morning post.
Mr. Obama gave the Iranians $1.7 billion as part of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal that Mr. Trump later scuttled.
