First Ladies, Sexism and Cookies

So last month, the magazine Family Circle printed cookie recipes, one they say is Melania Trump’s recipe for ‘Star Cookies’, and one they call the Clinton Family recipe for Chocolate Chip cookies.

You can find them both right here, and make as many as you want.  Warning, the Washington Examiner says they both stink, but that’s beside the point.

But here’s the problem that Producer Michael Piercey had with the whole situation: Melania Trump doesn’t bake.  He assumes as much anyway, since she is both Rich, and a Model, which means she doesn’t have to cook for herself, and doesn’t eat cookies.  “Her recipe for cookies is a bottle of vodka and a phone!” Piercey said on the show on Friday.  And that’s fine!  She’s rich, her life is very different from ours, and so is Donald Trump!  We aren’t electing a president of the 1950’s, who cares about cookies?

And another layer of Sexism, is that ‘Clinton Family Recipe’ that Family Circle posted, is from Hillary Clinton when she was running for First Lady back in the 90’s.  So it’s woman vs woman.  Did they ask Bill for a cookie recipe?  I would eat those cookies!  You know he makes, like, 3am cookies with whatever’s in the fridge!  His cookies have like, pringles and snickers in them and I bet they’re fantastic, but they didn’t ASK for his cookie recipe, because he’s not a GIRL and GIRLS do the cooking.

Also, Just as with Melania, do you think Hillary bakes cookies?  The woman hasn’t driven a car in 30 years, do you think she’s turned a single knob on an oven in that time?  Hillary cooks less cookies than Melania, and we’re into negative cookie range here.

The idea that we have to have our candidates wives offer up recipes reads as very 1950’s and sexist, at least to producer Michael.  What do you think?

He thinks that when Family Circle reached out and asked for a recipe, she should have said no.  Say ‘I don’t bake cookies and neither does she, and print THAT’.  That’s a very Trump move.
