WASHINGTON (WMAL)– Following last night’s losses to Democrats in the races for Governor, Lt. Governor, and Attorney General, Prince William County Board Chair and Senate Candidate Corey Stewart says it’s time for the head of the Republican Party of Virginia to go.

At a news conference outside CNN’s studios in Washington, Stewart says the losses were due to Whitbeck, and Gubernatorial candidate Ed Gillespie.

“Obviously, the Republican party put forth a candidate who was frankly an establishment candidate who had no message, who refused to embrace the President of the United States, who ridiculed the supporters of the President of the United States and just was unable to inspire voters, including the republican base to the polls.”

Stewart says he does see this as “an opportunity” to re-build and has asked for Whitbeck to resign. “While the leadership at the Republican Party deserve our gratitude for their service, it’s time for John Whitbeck and the leadership of the Republican Party of Virginia to move on. Today the rebuilding begins”.
