Meet Shak: Republican Candidate for Virginia’s 10th Congressional District

Shak Hill has always aimed high, even before his Air Force days. Growing up, his family was unable to pay for private high school. Convinced that education is the way to prosperity, Shak paid for private high school, working odd jobs from dishwasher, to bus boy, to gas station attendant, to a hired hand at Louisiana Downs Racetrack, to working on a local farm.

This early lesson of hard work and grit taught Shak that by using his Creator given talents, the sky is the limit and nothing can hold him back.

After high school, Shak graduated from the United States Air Force Academy andFormer Fighter Pilot Running for Congress became a decorated pilot flying combat missions in Desert Storm and missions all over the world. Because of his exceptional flying skill and drive for education, Shak was invited back to the Academy with his first By-Name request to be an instructor pilot. Shak concluded his career with an unprecedented second By-Name request to the Presidential Wing, Andrews Air Force Base, MD, where he finished as one of only two flight commanders in the 457th Airlift Squadron.
