LISTEN: Brexit Strategist MATTHEW ELLIOTT Explains What Is Next For Brexit

INTERVIEW – MATTHEW ELLIOTT – Editor at Large at Brexit Central and was the CEO of the Vote Leave campaign — discussed yesterday’s Brexit vote.

  • The UK Parliament rejects Prime Minister Theresa May’s Brexit deal with the European Union by  a vote of 432 to 202. The British Parliament rejected a Brexit deal to leave the European Union but there’s still about two months (March 29) to determine the next step. If there’s no agreement on a way to leave the EU, remain in the EU, or extend the deadline, Britain faces a no deal situation on trade and economic agreements with other countries.
  • Financial Times: Matthew Elliott. One of the most formidable political strategists in Westminster, Elliott imported US-style pressure groups to Britain — a prominent example being the TaxPayers’ Alliance. When Hannan saw the referendum approaching, he called on his old friend to organise a nascent Leave operation. Elliott duly founded Business for Britain in 2012, notionally to give Eurosceptic businesses a voice. It first advocated a “change or go” policy towards the EU, so infuriating Banks. But Elliott’s approach was vindicated when David Cameron returned from Brussels with a deal perceived to be toothless and insubstantial. Business for Britain could no longer be accused of equivocation and morphed into the Vote Leave campaign.
