5am – A/B/C DEFENDERS COME TO THE RESCUE FOR ILHAN OMAR AFTER HER 9/11 COMMENTS

  • REP. OMAR BLAMES TRUMP TWEET FOR DEATH THREATS: Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., says she’s received an influx of death threats since President Trump tweeted a video on Friday that combined comments from the congresswoman — which critics said were dismissive of the Sept. 11 attacks — with footage from Ground Zero … “I have experienced an increase in direct threats on my life—many directly referencing or replying to the President’s video,” Omar tweeted in a statement on Sunday night. Omar said that hate crimes around the world by right-wing extremists and whte nationalists are on the rise around the world and accused Trump of encouraging acts of hate. Omar’s comments came as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that she had taken steps to ensure the freshman congresswoman’s safety and called on the president to take the tweet down. The White House defended Trump, saying the president had a duty to highlight Omar’s history of comments that others have found offensive, blamed Democrats for not holding the congresswoman accountable for her alleged anti-Semitic comments and that he wished no “ill will” upon the first-term lawmaker. Ilhan Omar is accusing Trump of encouraging right-wing terrorists to commit violent crimes and hate crimes Omar also attacks Trump supporters, claims that after Trump holds a rally that hate crimes surge in that area surge, adds: “We can no longer ignore” Trump’s words
  • Rep. Ilhan Omar @Ilhan: We are all Americans. This is endangering lives. It has to stop.
  • OMAR’s Saturday Tweets: This country was founded on the ideas of justice, of liberty, of the pursuit of happiness. But these core beliefs are under threat. Each and every day. We are under threat by an administration that would rather cage children than pass comprehensive immigration reform.
  • Nancy Pelosi asks Capitol Police to ‘safeguard’ Rep. Ilhan Omar after ‘dangerous’ Trump tweet
  • The Federalist: Nobody In The GOP Is Inciting Violence Against Ilhan Omar. Democrats’ claims that Republicans are ‘inciting violence’ against Rep. Ilhan Omar by criticizing her ideas are absurd, and worrisome.
  • GILLIBRAND: As a Senator who represents 9/11 victims, I can’t accept any minimizing of that pain. But Trump’s dangerous rhetoric against @IlhanMN is disgusting. It’s a false choice to suggest we can’t fight terrorism and reject Islamophobic hate at once—a president should do both.
  • WARREN: The President is inciting violence against a sitting Congresswoman—and an entire group of Americans based on their religion. It’s disgusting. It’s shameful. And any elected leader who refuses to condemn it shares responsibility for it.
  • Jake Tapper:  Did you take any issue with the way congresswoman Ilhan Omar characterized 911? Jerry Nadler:  No.
  • Beto O’Rourke on Trump’s tweet about Ilhan Omar: “This is an incitement to violence against Congresswoman Omar, against our fellow Americans who happen to be Muslim.”
  • Fox News’ Geraldo Rivera Defends Ilhan Omar
  • On Fox News, CAIR-Florida chief executive director Hassan Shibly on Rep. Omar’s controversial 9/11 remarks

5am – D         Roger Stone wants full copy of Mueller report for his criminal case. (NY Post) — Roger Stone wants a full copy of the Mueller report for his criminal case, according to reports. Lawyers for Stone, a former top Trump adviser, who is accused of lying to Congress and obstructing justice, are also seeking to get the charges against him dismissed. “No other person, Committee, or entity has Stone’s constitutionally based standing to demand the complete, unredacted Report,” Stone’s lawyers stated. As part of its full-court press against the charges, Stone’s lawyers also filed motions arguing he was selectively prosecuted. They are challenging the constitutionality of Mueller’s appointment, according to the Associated Press. Stone’s case already entails so much evidence for lawyers to process that Judge Amy Berman Jackson scheduled the start of the trial for November. “We could pile it as high as the Washington Monument twice,” Stone’s lawyer Robert Buschel said of the evidence in March. Stone’s trial got off to a controversial start, with Jackson imposing a gag order on the defendant after he posted a photo of her on Instagram with crosshairs next to her head.

5am – E         DAILY CALLER: OBAMA ADVISER’S BOOK IS RANKED 1,030 ON AMAZON. HOW DID IT MAKE NYT’S BEST SELLER LIST? Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett’s book is number 1,030 on Amazon with only three reviews, but is on the NYT Best Seller list. An industry insider said that was “inconceivable” and that Jarrett likely paid a company that helps authors buy their way onto the list. One such company buys 10,000 copies of an author’s book and tries to prevent bestseller lists from realizing the sales aren’t organic, in which case the book may be moved down or taken off the list. There were 12,600 reported sales of Jarrett’s book, enough to rank it highly on the Publishers Weekly chart, but Publishers Weekly did not put it on its list at all.

Valerie Jarrett, a top adviser to former President Barack Obama, published a book that ranks dismally on Amazon and at Barnes and Noble, but was placed on The New York Times Best Seller list.

6am – A         LIBERALS FREAK OUT OVER PROPOSAL TO SEND ILLEGALS TO SANCTUARY CITIES:

  • Democratic presidential candidate Cory Booker says that if President Donald Trump released illegal aliens in sanctuary cities it would “make us less safe”
  • Cher flips out over illegals coming to sanctuary Los Angeles: @CHER: I Understand Helping struggling Immigrants, but MY CITY (Los Angeles) ISNT TAKING CARE OF ITS OWN.WHAT ABOUT THE 50,000+Citizens WHO LIVE ON THE STREETS.PPL WHO LIVE BELOW POVERTY LINE,& HUNGRY? • ON ABC THIS WEEK: Sarah Sanders says potential transfer of undocumented immigrants to sanctuary cities is “option on the table.”  “Certainly, this wouldn’t be our first choice because ideally, we would wouldn’t be dealing with a massive influx of illegal immigrants.”

6am – B/C     TIGER WINS:

  • EYE OF THE TIGER: Tiger Woods is basking in the glory of his fifth — and perhaps most improbable and emotional — major title victory after winning the Masters on Sunday … Woods’ comeback has come full-circle. Only two years ago at Augusta National, Woods needed a nerve block just to hobble upstairs to the Champions Dinner, unsure he would ever play another round of golf. He had a fourth back surgery with hopes of simply playing with his two children. Now, at age 43, he is a Masters champion again, his first green jacket since 2005 and his first major since the 2008 U.S. Open. In addition to Woods’ fifth Masters championship and 15th major title (trailing only the great Jack Nicklaus in both categories), Sunday marked his 81st victory on the PGA Tour, one away from the career record held by Sam Snead. Perhaps most gratifying for Woods is that his two children, ages 10 and 11, got to see him win a championship live and not just relive his past glory on YouTube.
  • BLEACHER REPORT: One of the greatest comebacks in sports history. 2008: Wins US Open on torn ACL 2010: Neck injury 2011: Sprained MCL, Achilles 2012: Achilles injury 2014: Back surgery 2015: Back surgery 2017: Back surgery 2019: Wins Masters (first major since 2008)

6am – D         INTERVIEW – MD COMPTROLLER PETER FRANCHOT – discussed Tax Day.

6am – E         Florida man arrested after aggressively eating handfuls of pasta. (NY Post) — A shirtless alleged drunk was arrested outside a Naples, Fla., Olive Garden last week after customers complained he was sitting on a bench and shoving handfuls of pasta into his mouth. Ben Padgett, 32, was charged last Sunday with disorderly intoxication and resisting an officer, according to a police report obtained by the Miami Herald.  His erratic behavior first reached the boiling point when he threatened to beat up an employee — who he’d bizarrely asked whether “he had male or female sex organs,” cops alleged. Once outside, Padgett allegedly began “muttering obscenities” and begging for change — all in between handfuls of pasta. Arriving cops gave the pasta-eating panhandler paper towels to clean his hands and face before cuffing him, the Herald said. He allegedly had one last outburst in the back of the patrol car, when he injured himself by banging his head against the metal cage partition.

6am – F         TRANSGENDER ACTIVISTS ACCUSE IMDB OF “DEAD NAMING”: Transgender activists have set their sights on film industry database website IMBD.com for publishing the birth names of trans actors. The activists have created a brand new term for it by accusing IMBb of “deadnaming” people with names no longer in use. At least two trans actors have reportedly demanded that Internet Movie Database (IMDb) remove their original names and replace them with their new name adopted after becoming transgender. But the site has thus far refused to comply, according to Deadline Hollywood. Activists even claim that IMDb did not change the listings even after the actors’ managers tried to contact the site to request the name changes. One trans actor claimed that IMDb replied that the information on the site is public information and that they “do this with everyone.”  A second actor said it took months for IMDb to add his trans name, but he is upset that his birth name is still in the biography section. Registered members of IMDb can make certain edits to pages, but not everything on an entry is open for alteration.

7am – A/B/C INTERVIEW – JOE DIGENOVA – legal analyst and US  Attorney to the District of Columbia

  • Joe discussed an interesting story in George Papadopoulos book discussing how people tried to set him up by planting money on him.
  • Democrat semantics on spying vs surveillance: James Comey: “I’ve never thought of” electronic surveillance as “spying”
  • Washington Waits in Suspense for Mueller Report
  • ABC’s JON KARL SAYS WHITE HOUSE IS CONCERNED WHAT DON MCGAHN MIGHT HAVE SAID TO SPECIAL COUNSEL: The White House has been briefed on the Mueller report and “there is significant concern on the president’s team about what will be in this report,” and “what worries them most is what Don McGahn told the special counsel,” @jonkarl reports on ABC This Week.
  • Roger Stone wants full copy of Mueller report for his criminal case. Roger Stone wants a full copy of the Mueller report for his criminal case, according to reports. • Protesters from the NAACP and Virginia’s republican party protested in front of the event, allied in their frustration that Northam has not stepped down.
  • Va. Gov. Ralph Northam drops out of fundraiser appearance, citing ‘safety’. (Washington Post) — Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam, who has faced calls to resign since he admitted to wearing blackface during a dance contest in the ’80s, dropped out of a planned appearance Sunday at a Democratic state lawmaker’s fundraiser where he would have faced protesters, citing safety concerns. Northam (D) was scheduled to appear at an event for state Sen. David W. Marsden (D-Fairfax), who is up for reelection this year, at a community center in a quiet suburban enclave in Burke. But after the Fairfax County NAACP and the state Republican Party assembled protesters outside the center, the governor’s office canceled. His spokeswoman said it was “due to concerns for the safety and security of everyone in attendance.” Northam has faced calls to step down since February, when his 1984 Eastern Virginia Medical School personal yearbook page surfaced, featuring a photo of a man wearing blackface standing next to another person in Ku Klux Klan garb.
  • A protest at a fundraiser…two sides of the aisle calling out Virginia Governor Ralph Northam after a blackface scandal.
  • Activist Sean Perryman ‏ @SeanPerryman3 10h10 hours ago: At the last minute, he canceled for “safety concerns.” The guy wants to govern but is implicitly calling his constituents dangerous. We were there peacefully and there was no incident the entire time.

7am – E         FORMER CLINTON AIDE BEHIND EFFORT TO GET KAVANAUGH KICKED OFF FACULTY AT GEORGE MASON: Ex-Clinton official leads ‘dark money’ effort to boot Kavanaugh from teaching gig. (Fox News) — A top aide to Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign — now leading a liberal “dark money” group — is backing a student effort at George Mason University to get Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh fired from teaching a summer course over misconduct allegations. A student group calling itself “Mason For Survivors” began circulating a petition last month, so far attracting nearly 5,000 signatures, urging to “terminate AND void ALL contracts and affiliation with Brett Kavanaugh at George Mason University” on the grounds that the justice was accused of misconduct. But the campaign is being given a partisan boost thanks to Brian Fallon, former press secretary for Clinton’s 2016 campaign, who’s now in charge of Demand Justice, a liberal advocacy group that doesn’t disclose its funding. Fallon and his group are paying for Facebook ads that target anyone linked with George Mason University, urging them to sign the petition, in addition to signing a separate petition that calls upon the Democrats in Congress to investigate Kavanaugh, the HuffPost reported.

  • BERNIE SANDERS TOWN HALL ON FOX NEWS TONIGHT: Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., is getting ready to make his pitch for president in front of a large audience at Fox News’ town hall tonight … Fox News’ Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum will moderate the hour-long event. It will be the Vermont senator’s first appearance on Fox News Channel since he agreed to be a guest on “Special Report” in December 2018. He also participated in Fox News Channel’s Democratic town hall back in 2016 alongside his then-competitor Hillary Clinton. Sanders, who raised $18 million in the first six weeks of his campaign, is considered a front-runner among a crowded field of 2020 presidential hopefuls. His town hall on Fox comes the same day he has promised to release his tax records.
