Tucker Carlson Is Absolutely Right About Ilhan Omar (The Federalist)

Americans are constantly being lectured that good citizenship isn’t contingent on skin color, faith, or ethnicity, but a set of beliefs. Yet whenever anyone is critical of the ugly things someone like Ilhan Omar says, they are immediately battered for being xenophobes and racists. You can’t have it both ways.

I mean, you can try. Nearly the entire contemporary progressive argument is girded by identity grievances. So when Fox News’s Tucker Carlson gives a monologue, in which he concludes that Omar was “living proof that the way we practice immigration has become dangerous to this country,” the reaction is predictable. Ilhan Omar: We treat dogs better than migrant children (Washington Examiner)

Rep. Ilhan Omar said the migrant children being held in detention centers at the U.S.-Mexico border are treated worse than animals.

The Minnesota Democrat said it is “human” for immigrants coming to the country illegally to find another way to cross the border if they are turned away at a port of entry because their survival depends on it. [Read More]

THE FAKE DEMOCRATIC HEALTH CARE DEBATE (American Commitment)

Just a decade after Democrats steamrolled Republicans and public opposition to upend the American health care system, they are ready to move on to the next phase on their plan to force every American into a government-run health care plan. Some of them, led by Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris (about half the time—she flops like a fish), openly advocate banning private health insurance (except for “supplemental coverage,” meaning cosmetic surgery) and immediately forcing everyone into a government plan. That’s what the “Medicare for All” bill in Congress would do. Others, led by Joe Biden, adopt a more subtle path to destroying private insurance developed by Yale professor Jacob Hacker called the “public option” – alternately called a “Medicare buy-in” or “Medicare X.” [Read More]

Maryland banned a school from voucher program over anti-LGBT views. It says that violates religious freedom. (The Baltimore Sun)

A private Christian school that doesn’t accept same-sex marriage or transgender people says Maryland unfairly threw it out of a school voucher program because of its religious beliefs.

Administrators of the multimillion-dollar scholarship program counter that the state can’t allow taxpayer money to go to any institution — religious or otherwise — that discriminates against students because of their sexual orientation. [Read More]

Scarlett Johansson says diversity comments were ‘taken out of context’

“Avengers” actress Scarlett Johansson says comments she made on “political correctness” in casting have been taken out of context and asserts that she supports diversity in film.

“An interview that was recently published has been edited for click bait and is widely taken out of context,” Johansson said in a statement over the weekend to several media outlets, referring to an article published in As If magazine. “The question I was answering in my conversation with the contemporary artist, David Salle, was about the confrontation between political correctness and art.” [Read More]
