Congressional Federal Credit Union“Relief Line of Credit” with an interest-free rate over 60 days is available for furloughed employees.

Navy Federal Credit UnionEligibility for interest-free loans for those who have direct deposit of their government pay.

Wells Fargo: Call 1-800-TO-WELLS for furloughed assistance.

Unemployment benefitsU.S. Office of Personnel Management fact sheet states that federal employees may be eligible for “Unemployment Compensation for Federal Employees”.

FITNESS:

Balance Gym: Free workouts from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. with a government ID.

CYCLED!: Government workers can sweat out the shutdown with Cycling, Barre or Yoga Sculpt class at the Silver Spring and Takoma Park location. With a government ID and promo code “SweatItOut@CYCLED!”, furloughed employees can get discounted classes.

Zengo Cycle: $10 off-peak (7:15 a.m., 7:30 a.m., 12 p.m.) walk-in classes plus free shoe rentals with a government ID.

Giant and Capital Area Food Bank: Giant Food stores are partnering with Capital Arena Food Bank to provide free “pop-up markets” throughout the D.C. area Saturday, January 12th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The pantries will be free of charge for anyone with a government ID.

Kraft: The company is opening a pop-up grocery store called “Kraft Now Pay Later” where federal employees can get free groceries with a government ID.

PET CARE

Animal Welfare League of Arlington: Pet food offered for federal employees with government ID.

DC Pet Pantry: food assistance for animals with government ID and proof of DC residency.

Montgomery County Humane Society: Limited supply of cat and dog food available with government ID. Those in need are invited to stop at MCHS from 12pm – 4pm weekdays.
