WASHINGTON — (WMAL) A Union leader said Metro bus drivers are frequently forced to urinate on buses because there is simply nowhere else to go.

Union official James Madaras brought forth the issue on Wednesday during a National Transportation Safety Board hearing.

Madaras said the Union is constantly battling with Metro when it comes to giving drivers private facilities to relieve themselves. He believes drivers should not be reprimanded for urinating on buses when they have nowhere to use the restroom. “What are they supposed to do?” he added.

Metro Spokesperson Dan Stessel said drivers have access to restrooms “on virtually every trip,” including at Metrorail stations, bus stations and hotels and restaurants that have agreements with Metro.
