WASHINGTON — (WMAL)  In a surprising move, the Talbot County Board in Maryland will not get rid of its Confederate Statue.

The “Talbot Boys” statue is on the courthouse lawn. Locals have called for its removal since the Charleston shooting over the summer.

The Council recommended that the people of Talbot County build a Union Statue next to the Confederate one that’s the same size.

The Council also said that since both Union and Confederate soldiers are considered war veterans by the federal government, both should be represented with statues.
