WASHINGTON — (WMAL) It looks like everyone’s back to work today, including Congress.
The Senate and the House have less than two weeks to meet a deadline to pass a 1.1 trillion dollar spending bill. This would avoid a holiday season government shutdown.
The government is currently working through a funding bill that will officially end on Dec. 11. Congress still needs to pass a bill that will fund federal agencies through the following year.
Congress faces two major issues in attempting to pass a bill: Planned Parenthood and Syrian refugees.
Conservatives have stated they will block any spending bill that gives federal money to Planned Parenthood or that funds Syrian refugees entering the country.
