WASHINGTON (WMAL)– Florida governor Rick Scott has officially endorsed Republican frontrunner Donald Trump.

In a statement, Scott called for Republicans to “come together and begin preparing to win the general election in November.”

Scott’s endorsement comes after Trump won three pivotal primaries Tuesday in Florida, North Carolina, and Illinois.

Scott asked his party to “accept and respect the will of the voters” by supporting Trump instead of trying to undermine him.

“If we spend another four months tearing each other apart, we will damage our ability to win in November,” Scott said. “It’s time for an end to the Republican on Republican violence.”
