WASHINGTON (WMAL)– A major tuna manufacturer is voluntarily recalling three tuna products due to process deviations at a packing facility, according to the Food and Drug Administration.

The manufacturer in question, Bumble Bee Foods, LLC, will recall three specific UPC codes of canned Chunk Light tuna. The facility where the deviations occurred is not owned or operated by Bumble Bee.

The deviations occurred during the sterilization process and could have introduced contaminants that would be life-threatening if consumed, the FDA warned.

While there have been no reports of illness in connection with these products so far, Bumble Bee says they initiated the recall out of “an abundance of caution.”
