5am – A/B/C   Donald Trump Tells Evangelical Leaders to Disobey Bible: Don’t Pray for All Political Leaders, That’s Politically Correct. Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump instructed evangelical leaders on Tuesday to disobey the biblical command to pray for all political leaders because that would be politically correct. The billionaire real estate mogul met with nearly 1,000 evangelical leaders in New York City in a much anticipated “conversation” that was convened by former Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson and the nonpartisan My Faith Votes organization. In an attempt to gain the support of pastors and other influential evangelicals who have been hesitant to support Trump after he clinched enough delegates to win the GOP nomination, Trump told the crowd he has his religion to thank for the blessings that have been placed in his life.

5am – D         Hillary Clinton Makes Dire Predictions for Economy if Donald Trump Wins. COLUMBUS, Ohio — Hillary Clinton pounded away on Tuesday at Donald J. Trump’s business record and economic proposals, seeking to turn his claims of astounding financial success and genius against him and predicting a recession and global panic if he is elected president. In a stern but earnest-sounding 45-minute speech at an education center garage here, Mrs. Clinton took care to intermingle the policy proclamations of Mr. Trump and his professed image as a business success of the highest order.

5am – E         Thousands remain without power after storms pound region. WASHINGTON — Tuesday afternoon’s storm left thousands of power outages in its wake. As of 4 a.m. Wednesday, Baltimore Gas and Electric reported more than 7,000 power outages for its customers, with a majority in Howard County at nearly 6,000 and more than 800 Montgomery County customers in the dark. Skies turned dark across the D.C. area on June 21, 2016 as severe weather and heavy rain moved through the region. Dominion Virginia Power reported more than 1,200 Northern Virginia customers are in the dark as of 4 a.m., mostly in Loudoun aqnd Fauquier counties. Potomac Edison has nearly 600 customers out, mostly in Frederick and Howard counties.

Flooding turns Cleveland Park Metro station into waterfall. (Washington Post) -Metro says flash flooding was the culprit in the escalator closure that caused trains to bypass Cleveland Park on Tuesday night. “The station is prone to flooding because it is at the bottom of a hill,” said Metro spokeswoman Sherri Ly. “In these extreme weather situations, we get flash flooding.” She said the rainwater did not cause damage to the tracks or third rail. Escalators from the station’s mezzanine to the platform did, however, remain inoperable Tuesday night and were being used as stairs. Ly did not have an estimate of how much water had accumulated inside the station. The station closed about 6:40 p.m. and reopened nearly two hours later, after drains were cleared and the rainwater had dissipated. “We’re dealing with essentially a flash flooding situation where the water flooded the street, came over the curb and cascaded down the escalator,” she said. “You can’t control mother nature.”

6am – A/B/C Study Explains Why Disney Princess Culture Might Be Bad For Young Girls. PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — You probably don’t think twice when you buy your daughter a Disney princess toy, or take her to see the latest princess movie. It’s probably like second nature to let her be Cinderella for Halloween. According to the study, led by BYU family life professor Sarah M. Coyne, interactions with Disney princess culture can lead young children to be more likely to fall into stereotypes that could be damaging for them down the road. The study cited the avoidance of behaviors that aren’t seen to be feminine, or the belief that only certain opportunities are afforded to women, as dangers of falling into certain stereotypes. For the study, 198 preschool age children were examined. The researchers deciphered how much the children interacted with princess culture and consulted parents and educators about the children’s behaviors. The children were asked to rank their favorite toys to play with from a grouping of toys broken down into “girl,” toys, “boy,” toys and gender-neutral toys.

6am – D         Donald Trump vs. Hillary Clinton Campaigns: Filings Show Huge Fundraising Gap. (NBC News)  –  Hillary Clinton is crushing Donald Trump on the fundraising front, electoral filings show, casting doubt on the Republican’s claims that money is “pouring in” for his campaign. Donald Trump’s campaign raised $3.1 million in May and ended last month with $1.3 million in the bank, a remarkably poor showing that will only heighten Republican concerns about his ability to run a serious general election campaign against presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. Trump raised just over $3 million in May — the month he secured enough delegates to win the Republican nomination — while Clinton raked in more than $26 million, according to the latest filings from the Federal Election Commission.   Looking back even further, Mitt Romney’s failed campaign in May 2012 by comparison had raised $23.4 million and finished the month with $17 million on hand. Trump has said he doesn’t need GOP funds to win. The candidate pledged to self-fund his campaign of Republican support dries up.

6am – E         Democratic National Convention Seeking Hamilton Creator as Speaker. The Democratic National Committee has invited Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda to speak at the July 25-28 nominating convention, according to Politico.com. Citing unnamed sources, the political website said Miranda’s name is on a list of “young pop artists” the Democratic National Committee is approaching to appear at the convention, at which Hillary Rodham Clinton is expected to be confirmed as the party’s 2016 presidential nominee. Getting Miranda may be a challenge, as he will leave his starring role in the show July 9 and is scheduled to be shooting the Disney film Mary Poppins Returns the week of the convention.

State Dept. sued over failure to recover deleted Clinton emails.  A pair of watchdog groups are asking a federal judge to force the government to recover the more than 30,000 emails Hillary Clinton deleted from her private email server in December 2014. In documents filed with the court Monday, Cause of Action, a nonpartisan oversight group, and Judicial Watch, a conservative watchdog, argued Clinton and her aides violated the Federal Records Act by selecting which emails they wanted to turn over and deleting the rest. Attorneys for Cause of Action and Judicial Watch asked the government to remedy the “unlawful removal, by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, of federal records from the custody of the United States Department of State.”

7am – E         Montgomery County Relaunches Bag Tax Campaign As Fees Collections Remain High. Stats show the number of plastic bags used by retailers has remained relatively constant despite 5-cent tax. Montgomery County leaders on Saturday gathered to remind people to use reusable bags while shopping as fees collected from its more than four-year-old bag tax have remained relatively constant. The 5-cent bag tax, which went into effect January 2012, was supposed to encourage shoppers to use reusable bags instead of plastic bags provided by retailers that tend to end up in creeks and waterways, polluting those places and hurting the environment. The tax also applies to paper bags provided by retailers. But since the law went into effect, the amount of money the county has collected from transactions in which a customer does use a plastic or paper bag hasn’t shown a significant decrease.
