WASHINGTON — (WMAL) Congressional testimony is not usually the stuff of barroom banter. But most cities are not Washington, DC.

Shaw’s Tavern on Florida Avenue, NW will open its doors at 9:30 am Thursday for what is being billed as “The Comey Hearing Covfefe.”

All five of the bar’s televisions will be tuned to the Senate Intelligence Committee hearing that will feature the former FBI Director dishing on his version of what transpired during his conversations with President Trump.

Featured specials will include $5 Russian Vodka drinks and a $10 “FBI” sandwich.

“Every time there’s been some sort of political event in the city – election night or debate night – it’s always drawn a big crowd, so we decided to have a venue for people who want to come watch it,” says Rob Heim, the Tavern’s general manager.

Heim expects a big crowd, but he’s not sure how rowdy the atmosphere will be.

“Generally, during actual debate time, you can hear a pin drop. It’s pretty quiet as people listen,” he said.

If you can’t make it down to Shaw’s Tavern, you can hear Comey’s Testimony live right here at WMAL.com.
