BREAKING: Charlie Gard’s Parents Give up Battle to Take Son to US

LONDON (CNN) — The parents of the terminally ill British baby Charlie Gard have given up their legal fight over treatment for their son.

Their lawyer Grant Armstrong told the UK High Court Monday that experts have said that the “window of opportunity no longer exists.”

“For Charlie, it is too late…treatment cannot offer a chance of success,” he told the court.

According to the Associated Press, Charlie Gard’s father says too much time has elapsed in court battles to seek experimental treatment for him.

He says his son Charlie won’t live to see his first birthday, which is less than two weeks away.

This is a developing story and will be updated as new information becomes available.
