LISTEN: JOE DIGENOVA on the F.B.I. Raiding Trump Lawyer’s Office: This Shows Mueller is out to GET the President

Listen as Larry spoke with Joe diGenova, a legal analyst and former U.S. Attorney to the District of Columbia, regarding the F.B.I. raiding the office of President Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael D. Cohen.

O’Connor: Doesn’t this open up a huge, huge problem with regard to attorney-client privilege? What is this about?

diGenova: Yes, and I assume that since the Southern District of New York, US attorney’s office is the one that’s handling this case, not Mr. Mueller, that given their vast experience with Wall Street search warrants they have a special team in place to separate privilege material from non-privilege material and keep it away from prosecutors and agents that are working on the case. I think the most important part of this is that it shows Robert Mueller has no desire whatsoever to shut down his investigation. I think this clearly shows that Mueller wants to get the President, G-E-T, get the President. And I think, without any doubt, this underscores the necessity of the President not giving an interview to Mr. Mueller under any circumstances.

Mueller III, according to Mr. Cohen’s lawyer, who called the search “completely inappropriate and unnecessary.” The search does not appear to be directly related to Mr. Mueller’s investigation, but likely resulted from information he had uncovered and gave to prosecutors in New York.

“Today the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York executed a series of search warrants and seized the privileged communications between my client, Michael Cohen, and his clients,” said Stephen Ryan, his lawyer. “I have been advised by federal prosecutors that the New York action is, in part, a referral by the Office of Special Counsel, Robert Mueller.” [Read More]
