Trump Tower meeting transcripts: Donald Jr., Russia lawyer downplay session, rip ‘apocalyptic Hollywood’ narrative (Fox News)

Donald Trump Jr. and other key figures involved in an infamous Trump Tower meeting with Russian figures during the heat of the 2016 presidential campaign largely downplayed its significance and said Hillary Clinton was hardly discussed despite past speculation, in newly released transcripts from Senate Judiciary Committee interviews.

The committee released more than 1,800 pages of transcripts Wednesday from interviews with numerous figures involved in the June 9, 2016 meeting at Trump Tower. The controversial meeting, when it was revealed, fueled allegations of Trump campaign coordination with Russia – as Trump Jr. was apparently promised dirt on Clinton’s supposed involvement with Russia. Mueller Year One: The Real Heroes in Journalism (American Greatness)

The American media are broken.

After eight years of feeding the Obama cult of personality—swooning over his suave personal traits, covering for mistakes and misconduct, applying little if any scrutiny to his policies or performance—the news media suddenly developed a keen interest in presidential accountability and integrity on November 9, 2016.

Since the day Donald Trump won the election over their strenuous objections, the media have been out to get the man they deem unworthy of the presidency. They have teamed up with the Left of and the NeverTrump Right to campaign for his removal from office. (Victor Davis Hanson recently documented #TheResistance’s full list of tactics.) Trump’s family, aides, and cabinet members have been harassed and reviled in despicable ways. [Read More]

Sorry, there’s not going to be any ‘blue tidal wave’ this fall (The Hill)

Each day, the impending electoral “blue tidal wave” gets upgraded on the Hawaiian scale of electoral wave strength. Every special election, no matter how small, is inflated to an epic scale that “spells disaster” for the president and the party he commandeered in 2016.

Netanyahu Scoffs at CBS Question About Meeting with Hamas: ‘Could You Talk to Al Qaeda?’ (Washington Free Beacon)

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu scoffed at a question Tuesday about seeing himself talking to Hamas, wondering what they would discuss as long as the Islamist terror group seeks Israel’s destruction.

In an interview with “CBS Evening News,” Netanyahu said he wished the recent violence at the Gaza border had never happened. He told anchor Jeff Glor it was not a “peaceful demonstration.”

“Hamas is pushing people with a view of a massive infiltration into Israel, openly declaring their goal is to destroy Israel,” Netanyahu said. “They’re paying these people so it’s not the peaceful demonstration that you think about.” [Read More]

New Data Show California Kids’ Math Achievement Took A Nosedive After Common Core (The Federalist)

Before Common Core came along, California parents, faculty, and officials spent years developing some of the best-ranked K-12 math requirements in the nation. One result of their careful work was more than tripling the number of eighth graders who ranked proficient in math, and quadrupling the number of eighth graders taking algebra.

By 2014, California was the top state in the nation in eighth-grade algebra enrollment. That was the year Common Core went into place. It erased all those gains almost immediately, shows a new Hoover Institution analysis. [Read More]

Washington is now a cool city. That’s terrible news for American democracy. (The Washington Post)

Sparky’s Espresso Cafe was a few blocks from my apartment off 14th Street NW, but in the years after I moved to Washington in 2006, it felt to me like home. To get there from my apartment, I needed to walk by a decaying dry cleaner and a homeless shelter…. [Read More]
