NEW YORK — (WMAL) The Stanley Cup followed up its whirlwind (and drunken) weekend tour of DC with a visit to the Big Apple Monday, as Capitals stars Alex Ovechkin and Braden Holtby accompanied it for a visit to the Tonight Show.

Host Jimmy Fallon did most of the talking with his guests as they sat for a brief interview. Ovechkin joked about his appearance on the cover of Sports Illustrated (“Good looking fella, why not?”), while Holtby shared the secrets of successful goaltending. “I don’t know – I just close my eyes and hope for the best,” he explained.

The real star of the segment was – as usual – Lord Stanley’s Cup itself.

Fallon brought out Triple Crown-winning jockey Mike Smith for a cameo, and together, the four used straws to drink out of the cup, before Fallon went full “keg stand”, and had Ovechkin and Holtby lift his body over the cup so he could dive in for a drink with his face in the cup.
