Metro Records Highest Ridership Since Last Year Following Caps Victory Celebration

WASHINGTON — Metro has announced Tuesday’s final ridership, which was recorded to be the highest since last year’s Women’s March, in a tweet.

The total number was reported to be 840,145 following yesterday’s Caps victory parade and celebrations.

Metro recently unveiled its first-ever commemorative SmarTrip card to mark the event of a DC sports championship. The limited-edition SmarTrip card features the Capitals following their Game 5 victory that earned them the Stanley Cup.

Metro also stated in a separate tweet that Caps fans have ordered more than 20,000 of these commemorative SmarTrip cards in less than 24 hours. This is the fastest sales pace that WMATA has seen.
