American Airlines Bars Government From Using Planes To Transport Children In Response To Family Separation Reports

WASHINGTON- American Airlines announced their decision to bar the federal government from using American to transport children Wednesday in a response to the recent reports of family separations at the U.S.-Mexico border.

The company stated that the family separation process does not align with American Airlines’ values and that they “bring families together, not apart.”

American noted that they have carried refugees for non-profits and the government for the purpose of being reunited with family or friends. However, the company has no knowledge if the government has used American “to transport children who have been separated from their parents due to the recent immigration policy,” but expressed disappointment if the government has done so.

“We have no desire to be associated with separating families, or worse, to profit from it. We have every expectation the government will comply with our request and we thank them for doing so,” American said in their statement.
