Kavanaugh abandons script to deliver blistering opening statement on assault accusation (FOX News)

A visibly emotional Judge Brett Kavanaugh abandoned his prepared script and delivered a blistering opening statement denying the allegations of sexual assault leveled against him by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, calling it a “calculated and orchestrated political hit.”

In his sometimes tearful delivery, Kavanaugh, with his wife, Ashley, family and friends behind him, immediately denied Ford’s allegation that 36-years ago he pinned her down and attempted to remove her clothing.

“I will not be intimidated by withdrawing from this process. Your coordinated and well-funded effort to destroy my good name and destroy my family will not drive me out,” Kavanaugh said. “You may defeat me in the final vote, but you’ll never get me to quit. Ever.”

He also detailed the “10 long days” between when Ford first publicly made the accusation and Thursday’s hearing. [Read More]

People will credit this Lindsey Graham speech if Brett Kavanaugh is confirmed (Washington Examiner)

Graham was first Thursday to break ranks with his Republican colleagues on the Senate Judiciary Committee and not yield his time to Rachel Mitchell, the sex crimes bureau chief for the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office in Phoenix, Ariz., during a hearing with Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Kavanaugh appeared before the senators on Thursday to respond to allegations he sexually abused several women in the 1980s and 1990s, particularly the allegation from Kavanaugh’s first accuser, Christine Blasey Ford.

To put it simply, Graham became angry. He spent his entire time excoriating his Democratic colleagues, accusing them of running a sham interrogation and of cruelly and mercilessly slandering an innocent man.

It was a speech full of fire and fury. Whether it signified anything is yet to be seen: [Read More]

In his long-awaited hearing in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Supreme Court Justice nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh vehemently denied the accusations being thrown at him as by the committee Thursday.

At one point, Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California asked Kavanaugh why, if he was so innocent, he wouldn’t call for a full FBI investigation into the claims being madeagainst him.

She continued to remark how the FBI is not interviewing the other witnesses who made allegations, including Christine Blasey Ford, Debbie Ramirez and Julie Swetnick.

And what you’re saying, if I understand it, is that the allegations by Dr. Ford, Miss Ramirez and Miss Swetnick are wrong,” Feinstein said.

That is emphatically what I’m saying. Emphatically,” Kavanaugh responded.

“The Swetnick thing is a joke. That is a farce,” he added.  [Read More]
