Two People Killed Early Wednesday In Bethesda House Fire

BETHESDA, MD — (WMAL) Two people were killed early Wednesday in a house fire on Western Avenue in Bethesda.

Fire crews from both Montgomery County and D.C. arrived on the scene to find heavy flames already pouring from the home. Firefighters were able to knock the fire down quickly, and crews were able to get inside, where they found two victims in separate areas of the home. Both were dead.

The bodies were transported to the State Medical Examiner’s office in Baltimore so their cause of death can be determined.

The fire is being investigated by both Montgomery County Police and Fire until a cause of death is determined.

Western Avenue remained blocked near River Road Wednesday morning, and it was expected to be closed for several hours as the fire investigation continued.
