President Trump has issued an executive order to close all federal government offices and excuse federal employees from work on the scheduled workday of Wednesday, December 5, so that employees may remember the late president George H.W. Bush, his funeral taking place that morning at the Washington National Cathedral.

However, on the local level, the D.C. government will remain open on Wednesday, while Maryland’s state government agencies will be closed, according to press releases from both governments.

D.C. residents are being encouraged to use public transportation on Wednesday, as there will be significant travel delays in the District because of road closures and funeral procession routes.

The U.S. stock market will also be closed Wednesday to honor the former president.
