WASHINGTON (WMAL) – National Weather Service’s snow totals for the D.C. Metropolitan Area this weekend have been upped from yesterday’s reported 1 to 3 inches to officially 3 to 5 inches, according to NWS meteorologist Cody Ledbetter.
Areas south of D.C. will see between 4 and 8 inches of snow, prompting an issued winter storm warning for that area.
However, Ledbetter said a winter storm warning for the D.C. area couldn’t be “ruled out” as NWS continues to look this weekend’s weather models.
D.C. will most likely experience snow fall between early and mid-afternoon on Saturday. “It’s going to be snowing all night. Probably the best period for accumulating snow is going to be overnight Saturday into Sunday,” Ledbetter said.
Lighter snow showers and flurries will continue throughout Sunday.
