Andrew McCarthy: Rush Limbaugh is an American original – There’s no one like him. Keep him in your prayers (FOX News)

I haven’t felt much like working the last couple of days. Or like doing much else. See, Rush Limbaugh is a longtime friend of mine. Like all of Rush’s friends and tens of millions of other Americans, I’m reeling from the sudden diagnosis of advanced lung cancer.

Rush is an American original. It is said of some originals that, if you didn’t have them, you’d have to invent them. (Voltaire was talking about God when he said it; Don King, of course, about himself.) Yet no one could ever have invented Rush, because he was inconceivable. [Read More]

Trump’s post-acquittal speech bashed by mainstream media: ‘This is really crazy’ (FOX News)

President Trump’s White House speech on Thursday featured everything from calling the Russia investigation “bulls—t” to friendly ribbing of prominent GOP allies, all while agitating many members of the mainstream media who found a multitude of issues with the East Room event.

The Senate on Wednesday acquitted the president on both articles of impeachment following a weeks-long trial, and Trump described Thursday’s speech as a “celebration.” He was greeted by thunderous applause and a standing ovation by his supporters as many reporters immediately took to Twitter to criticize the process. Many negatively compared the scene to a campaign rally, while CNN’s Jim Acosta complained that it sounded like the president was “answering the questions he wishes reporters would ask.” [Read More]

The state capitol has been flooded with calls and emails asking for AB5 to be repealed, but the governor and the bill’s sponsor – Lorena Gonzalez (D-80) have only doubled-down on their commitment to end the gig economy. Shenanigans abound. [Read More]

Loudoun Sheriff Opposes Red Flag Laws

Loudoun County Sheriff Michael L. Chapman has said he opposes the “red flag” gun safety law moving through the state General Assembly now.

County supervisors on Tuesday got a report on laws creating emergency threat orders of protection, or red flag laws, that allow authorities to temporarily confiscate firearms from people deemed a threat to themselves or others. They had requested a review of the laws in September, deciding at the time not to take a formal position on the laws—a state-level debate—until seeing more information. [Read More]

MCPS developing first-of-its-kind LGBTQ class (Bethesda Beat)

Montgomery County Public Schools staff members and community advocates are developing the district’s first comprehensive class about LGBTQ history.

The pilot course, an elective, is expected to be rolled out to 10 high schools in the spring of 2021.
