Lee Phillip Bell, co-creator of popular soaps, dies at 91

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Lee Phillip Bell, who co-created “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful,” has died. She was 91.

A family spokeswoman says Bell died of natural causes at her home in Los Angeles. She hosted her own daytime talk show in her hometown of Chicago for 33 years.

Bell and her husband William J. Bell were responsible for two of daytime television’s most successful and enduring dramas.

“Y&R” has been on the air since 1973. “The Bold and the Beautiful” will mark its 33rd anniversary in March. Bell’s survivors include daughter Lauralee Bell, who stars on “Y&R.”
