5D/E –  STATUES:

  • George Washington statue toppled by protesters in Portland, Oregon A statue of George Washington was pulled down by protesters on Thursday night, which was Juneteenth eve, reports CBS Portland affiliate KOIN-TV. The nation’s first president owned slaves. […] A separate group of about 20 people met around 10 p.m. at the site of the large bronze statue of Washington.  Some wrapped the statue’s head in an American flag and lit the flag on fire. Their numbers grew over the next hour until there were enough people to pull it down. They quickly scattered. A KOIN news crew found the statue face down and covered in graffiti.
  • Protesters tear down statues of Union general Ulysses S. Grant, national anthem lyricist Francis Scott Key Protesters in San Francisco on Friday toppled the statue of former President Grant, who led the Union Army during the Civil War, in Golden Gate Park. San Francisco police said that approximately 400 people gathered around 8 p.m. to take down the statue, though no arrests were made, according to NBC Bay Area. Also torn down in the park on Friday were the statues of St. Junipero Serra and Francis Scott Key, who wrote the lyrics to “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
  • Thomas Jefferson statue will be moved following calls to remove racist symbols from public spacesDecatur, GA — The organizer behind a June 17 rally on the Decatur Square says a statue of Thomas Jefferson in downtown Decatur will be removed. The Beacon Hill Black Alliance for Human Rights organized the protest, calling for the immediate removal of the Confederate monument in the square. In addition to the scheduled removal of the obelisk monument, Beacon Hill Co-Chair Mawuli Davis said that the statue of Thomas Jefferson in front of Decatur’s Old Courthouse will also be removed. Decatur Mayor Pro Tem Tony Powers confirmed the statue will be removed from its position in front of the old county courthouse.
  • NY CITY COUNCILMEMBERS CALL FOR JEFFERSON STATUE TO BE REMOVED FROM CITY HALL
  • NYT: Roosevelt Statue to Be Removed From Museum of Natural History The bronze statue of Theodore Roosevelt, on horseback and flanked by a Native American man and an African man, which has presided over the entrance to the American Museum of Natural History in New York since 1940, is coming down.
  • NC GOV ORDERS CONFEDERATE STATUES REMOVED The monuments include memorials that have stood at the State Capitol for more than a century: the remainder of the North Carolina Confederate monument, the monument to the Women of the Confederacy and the Henry Wyatt Monument. Crews removed the Wyatt Monument and the Women of the Confederacy statues Saturday morning.

6AM HOUR:

6A/B/C – TRUMP TULSA RALLY

  • TULSA MAYOR DECLARES CIVIL EMERGENCY AHEAD OF RALLY Bynum cited recent “civil unrest,” expected “crowds in excess of 100,000” in the vicinity of the rally and opposition protests in his decision to place a federal exclusion zone for a six-block radius near the arena. “I have received information from the Tulsa Police Department and other law enforcement agencies that shows that individuals from organized groups who have been involved in destructive and violent behavior in other States are planning to travel to the city of Tulsa for purposes of causing unrest in and around the rally,” Bynum wrote in the executive order.https://www.foxnews.com/politics/tulsa-mayor-implements-federal-exclusion-zone-curfew-ahead-of-trumps-rally
  • OK SUPREME COURT WEIGHS IN The Oklahoma Supreme Court on Friday ruled that President Trump’s upcoming rally in Tulsa can go ahead as planned despite concerns about coronavirus — just as Trump announced that a curfew in the city had been lifted for the rally. “I just spoke to the highly respected Mayor of Tulsa, G.T. Bynum, who informed me there will be no curfew tonight or tomorrow for our many supporters attending the #MAGA Rally. Enjoy yourselves – thank you to Mayor Bynum!” the president tweeted https://www.foxnews.com/politics/oklahoma-judge-allows-trump-rally-tulsa-curfew-being-lifted
  • NYT: TikTok Teens and K-Pop Stans Say They Sank Trump Rally TikTok users and fans of Korean pop music groups claimed to have registered potentially hundreds of thousands of tickets for Mr. Trump’s campaign rally as a prank. After the Trump campaign’s official account @TeamTrump posted a tweet asking supporters to register for free tickets using their phones on June 11, K-pop fan accounts began sharing the information with followers, encouraging them to register for the rally — and then not show. The trend quickly spread on TikTok, where videos with millions of views instructed viewers to do the same, as CNN reported on Tuesday. “Oh no, I signed up for a Trump rally, and I can’t go,” one woman joked, along with a fake cough, in a TikTok posted on June 15. Thousands of other users posted similar tweets and videos to TikTok that racked up millions of views. Representatives for TikTok did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
  • LEFTISTS OUTWITTED CAMPAIGN W/TIX REQUEST RESULTING IN A HALF FULL ARENA On Saturday night, Trump opp onents revealed that they had used viral videos on the Chinese-owned social media platform TikTok to urge young people to flood the Trump campaign website with fake requests for tickets to the president’s rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The result: predictions for hundreds of thousands of fans, but a half-empty BOK Center stadium.
  • CHRIS WALLACE SPARS W/MERCY OVER CROWD SIZE  Wallace said, “The fact is the president talks about the attendance at his events. As we all know, he made a big issue of the attendance at his inauguration. He talks about how he can fill in the arena and that Joe Biden can’t. He didn’t fill in the arena last night — if may finish, and you guys were so far off that you had planned an outdoor rally, and there wasn’t an overflow crowd.”
  • BOTTOMS CALLS RALLY AN EMBARRASSMENT AND CALLS TRUMP A DANGER   “That rally was an embarrassment,” she continued. “It was absolutely what the nation does not need right now. He did not speak about healing. He did not recognize any of the racial tensions that are happening across our country. Instead, he does what he always does. He continues to try and divide us and really inflames the worst in people. And so I just hope that this is a good sign that the country is moving on from him.”
  • CUOMO:  I WOULD NEVER ALLOW A MASS RALLY LIKE THAT

6D/E – VOTERS SAY ‘YES’ TO FACE MASKS/’NO’ TO RALLIES  (Would you go to a rally?) Voters gave a thumbs-up to face m asks and a thumbs-down to political rallies in the latest Fox News Poll. Eighty (80) percent have a favorable view of mask-wearers, including 89 percent of Democrats, 68 percent of Republicans, and 61 percent of those who strongly approve of President Trump’s job performance.

6F – FAVRE COMPARES KAEPERNICK TO PAT TILLMAN “It’s not easy for a guy his age — black or white, Hispanic, whatever — to stop something that you’ve always dreamed of doing, and put it on hold, maybe forever, for something that you believe in,” Favr e explained.“I can only think of right off the top of my head, Pat Tillman is another guy that did something similar,” Favre said. “And, we regard him as a hero. So, I’d assume that hero status will be stamped with Kaepernick as well.”

7AM HOUR:

7A – INTERVIEW – JOE DIGENOVA – legal analyst and former U.S. Attorney to the District of Columbia

TOPIC: Bolton’s book / legal issues

7B/C –  RENAMING EVERYTHING:

  • MOVEMENT TO RENAME COLUMBUS, OH “Beloved Buckeyes one and all,” wrote someone identifying himself as Tyler Woodbridge. “Columbus is an amazing city, but one whose name is tarnished by the very name itself. Its namesake, Christopher Columbus, is in The Bad Place because of all his raping, slave trading, and genocide. That’s not exactly a proud legacy.”“Why not rename the city Flavortown? The new name is twofold. For one, it honors Central Ohio’s proud heritage as a culinary crossroads and one of the nation’s largest test markets for the food industry,” Woodbridge added. “Secondly, chef-lebrity Guy Fieri was born in Columbus, so naming the city in honor of him (he’s such a good dude, really) would be superior to its current nomenclature.
  • PETITION TO RENAME ST. LOUIS A petition has been made with hopes of changing the city’s name in St. Louis and taking down a statue of Saint Louis IX in Forest Park. The creators say it’s “outright disrespect” to Jewish and Muslim residents and they’re asking for support.
  • THE 2ND AUNT JEMIMA’S GRANDSON SPEAKS OUT“This is an injustice for me and my family. This is part of my history, sir,” Larnell Evans Sr. told me. “The racism they talk about, using images from slavery, that comes from the other side — white people. This company profits off images of our slavery. And their answer is to erase my great-grandmother’s history. A black female. … It hurts.”
  • AND THERE GO ESKIMO PIES! Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, owner of Eskimo Pie, told Reuters on Friday that the business has been under review, and they “recognize the term is derogatory.” “We are committed to being a part of the solution on racial equality, and recognize the term is derogatory,” Elizabell Marquez, head of marketing at Dreyer’s Grand, said in a statement.
  • BUH-BYE ALADDIN! Sky, a British broadcaster that offers a pay-per-view film service, describes the ’90s classic first and foremost as a film which “has outdated attitudes, language and cultural depictions which may cause offence” — and only after that as a “Disney animation featuring the voice of the late Robin Williams”.

7D – SEATTLE:

  • DAILY CALLER EXCLUSIVE: Trump Isn’t Sending National Guard To Seattle — ‘I Think It’s Great Sitting Back And Watching This Catastrophe’ President Donald Trump isn’t planning on imminently sending federal assets to reclaim the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone in Seattle, Wash. despite repeatedly threatening to do so, he told the Daily Caller in an exclusive Oval Office interview. Trump spoke with the Caller for more than an hour Friday evening on a variety of issues, including racial inequality, coronavirus, advertising boycotts, John Bolton, China, and the 2020 election. In recent days, Trump has urged Washington Gov. Jay Inslee to deploy National Guard troops to retake CHAZ and said that he himself “will take care of it” if Inslee fails to act. The president said Monday that he had discussed the situation with Attorney General Bill Barr. When asked by the Caller what Barr is “advising” him to do, POTUS answered, “right now, I think it’s great sitting back and watching this catastrophe.”
  • TOO UNSAFE FOR SEATTLE RESCUE PERSONNEL TO ENTER ‘CHOP’… 1 Dead and 1 Injured After Gunfire in Seattle’s ‘Autonomous Zone’ One person died and another was critically injured by gunfire early Saturday morning inside a portion of a Seattle neighborhood that has been occupied by protesters for more than a week, officials said. The shootings unfolded at a protester-run region known as the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone or the Capitol Hill Organized Protest area. It has been celebrated as a “no cop” zone, and the Seattle Police Department wrote in a statement that detectives were investigating the shooting “despite the challenges presented by the circumstances.” […] On Saturday, records show officers responding to a report of shots fired at Cal Anderson Park around 2:20 a.m. John Moore, 23, a volunteer medic working inside the zone, said he believed there were two separate shootings. He was less than 150 feet away from the first one, treating someone who had been punched in the face during some confrontations in the crowd, when he heard about six to eight shots. After assessing the scene and rushing to grab a bag of medical supplies, he said, people in the crowd brought the first victim to his team. Mr. Moore said the person had a gunshot wound in a shoulder and another in a thigh, and the medics began treatment. The victim had a pulse for about two minutes before it stopped. The team performed CPR. As they treated the man, Mr. Moore said the group was on the phone trying to get the Seattle Fire Department to come help. The city had worked in recent days to alter barricades in the zone to give emergency personnel access into the area. But Mr. Moore said the Fire Department would not come.

Kaufman was appointed to fill out Biden’s senate seat when he became vice president and also led Biden’s transition team in 2008 and 2009. Kauffman acknowledged they are in “very early stages of pre-transition planning” to ensure an incoming Biden administration is ready to tackle any challenges on the road to assuming the highest office in the land. https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/06/21/joe-biden-officially-begins-to-ready-team-for-white-house/#
  • WALLACE ASKS SYMONE SANDERS ABOUT BIDEN’S ABSENCE AND WHY THE DOUBLE STANDARD ON MASKS  “Just because we’re campaigning virtually does not mean we are not meeting actual voters across the country,” Sanders said. “Vice President Biden has campaigned in Michigan and Florida. Dr. [Jill] Biden has campaigned in Colorado and Texas. So the reality is what we have been doing is following CDC guidelines.” When asked a second time why Biden has not held a news conference in 80 days, Sanders said that Biden and his campaign “take pride in prioritizing local media.” https://www.foxnews.com/politics/biden-campaign-adviser-accuses-trump-of-appalling-attempt-to-downplay-coronavirus-for-political-gain
