WASHINGTON (WMAL) – The Washington Nationals placed right-handed pitcher Stephen Strasburg on the 10-day injured list Saturday because of carpal tunnel neuritis in his right hand according to a statement from the team. Strasburg threw only 16 pitches in Friday’s game against the Orioles before leaving in the first inning because of problems with his hand.

Strasburg hasn’t been on the injured list since August of 2018.

Right-handed pitcher Ryne Harper was recalled Saturday from the alternate training site in Fredericksburg. He’s been in nine of Washington’s 17 games this season and has tossed scoreless relief in six of the nine outings.
