City of Frederick Holds Public Meeting on Police Chief Search

WASHINGTON–Residents in the City of Frederick, Md will have a chance to discuss the search for a new police Chief.

A public meeting will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday to talk about the city’s search for a new top cop.

According to a statement from the city, today’s meeting will be to discuss the timeline of the search, the community engagement plan, and the committee administration (including Election of a Chair and Vice-Chair and future meeting schedule).

Residents interested in participating can do so by calling 1 929-229-5669 and enter Conference ID: 337 475 775#. A video recording of the meeting will be available shortly after at frederickmd.gov/chiefsearch.

The acting chief of police, Patrick Grossman recently announced he’ll be stepping down at the end of this month.  Grossman has served on the force since 1997.

Frederick Police Department’s Captain Dwight Sommers will serve as Acting Chief upon Grossman’s departure until a permanent Chief is hired.
