WASHINGTON–A large Confederate flag that has been flown along private property just off I-95 in Stafford county for years will be taken down in a matter of days.
The Virginia Department of Transportation says it plans to remove the large confederate flag through eminent domain due to the Northbound Rapphannock River Crossing Project.
That’s according to a Facebook post by Stafford County Board of Supervisors Vice Chair Mark Dudenhefer.

He says the project is taking place to reduce congestion along the highway in the Fredericksburg area. VDOT will be building a ramp to extend the I-95 Express Lanes.
So far, the Virginia Flaggers have not commented.
