Washington Commanders back at RFK? Congress debates the move

Julia Eisen – WMAL News | September 19, 2023

Fresh off of a Commanders victory, Congress is weighing in on where the team could play its future home games.

Hearings are underway in Congress for a bipartisan bill that could facilitate a move from the current FedEx Field in Prince George’s County back to a revitalized Robert F. Kennedy Stadium in the District.

The RFK Revitalization Act would transfer control of the stadium sit from the federal government over to the DC government. The space would be reimagined as a mixed use facility. The bill would require that at least 30 percent of the space be used for open space to open up access to the Anacostia River.

The lease of the federal property to the city would be for at least 99 years.
