(The Washington Times) — The first Oscar Mayer Wienermobile race, the “Wienie 500,” was held at Indianapolis Motor Speedway Friday and won by the “Slaw Dog” car representing the Southeast region.

The race was the first meetup of all six Oscar Mayer Wienermobiles in one place in a decade and was the first contest between the hot dog brand’s iconic promotional vehicles. The Slaw Dog overtook the “Chi Dog” in the waning moments of the contest to win.

The “New York Dog” led at first with a quick burst from the starting line but was passed by Chi Dog. The “Sonoran Dog” briefly took the lead but then overheated and started letting out white smoke, allowing Chi Dog to regain the lead position until Slaw Dog’s rush for the finish line.

The “Seattle Dog” and the “Chili Dog” were also-rans, having started the race from the third row.

Each car was driven by a team of two Oscar Mayer “Hotdoggers,” the people who drive the Wienermobiles to events nationwide. The race was streamed live on the Fox Sports Indycar social media accounts, and highlights will be shown in the network’s pre-race coverage for the 109th Indianapolis 500 which is being held at the race track Sunday.

Oscar Mayer is the official hot dog brand of the racetrack and the Indy 500, per a Kraft Heinz release.
