WASHINGTON — (WMAL) The man that prosecutors say contributed to quite a bit of D.C.’s political corruption over the last decade is being sentenced today.

Jeffrey Thompson was sentenced to three months in prison and three years of supervised released.

Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotely presided over the case, going beyond the prosecution’s sentencing recommendations for Thompson. Saying that Thompson’s case reveals the true, rotten nature of D.C. politics, Judge Kollar-Kotely went above the recommendend three months of home confinement.

Thompson pleaded guilty to funneling money into Gray’s 2010 mayoral campaign, but Gray denied ever knowing about it and was never charged.

Gray is set to make a return to the D.C. Council in next January.
