Off Duty Prince George’s County Fire Chief Arrested for Traffic Violations

WASHINGTON (WMAL) — An off-duty Prince George’s County volunteer fire chief has been arrested and charged with 22 traffic violations.

Charles County police officers took Matthew Reginald Fowler, of Waldorf, into custody Tuesday morning after he threatened to slash his girlfriend’s tires and fled from police multiple times.

According to police, Fowler was driving a fire department vehicle, marked with Prince George’s Fire Department logos, during the incident.

Fowler serves as a volunteer fire chief at the Silver Hill Fire Department.

Police are still investigating the incident.
