WASHINGTON (WMAL) – Rep. Barbara Comstock goes up against one challenger in Tuesday’s Republican primary for the 10th District Congressional seat.

Shak Hill has criticized Comstock saying she’s not conservative enough and doesn’t support President Donald Trump.

“It’ll probably take a little bite out of her. I don’t think it’s enough to defeat her though,” said Tom Davis, who represented Virginia’s 11th District from 1995 through 2008.

Davis said while Comstock may not be conservative enough for Hill and some other Republicans, the 10th District is not a conservative one. Given that, Davis doesn’t see any Republican holding it other than Comstock.

Still, Davis said it’s important for Comstock to get her base out to the polls Tuesday because traditionally primary voters are more conservative, and those people aren’t supporting her. Lower turnout would bode well for Hill according to Davis.

Six Democrats are running in their party’s primary for the seat.

Polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.
