Republicans Prepare Messaging on Roe v. Wade Decision for Campaign Trail

By WMAL.com

Senate Republican’s issued a three-page memo on Tuesday outlining messaging point for conservative candidates following the leaked report that the Supreme Court was preparing to overturn Roe v. Wade. The report sent shockwaves across the country and is now expected to be a central theme focused on by both parties in the upcoming midterm elections.

The memo, obtained by Axios, was issued by the National Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee and attempts to unify conservative messaging for candidates up and down the ballot. The focal talking points outlined in the memo, included:

  • “Be the compassionate, consensus-builder on abortion policy. … While people have many different views on abortion policy, Americans are compassionate people who want to welcome every new baby into the world.”
  • “Forcefully refute Democrat lies regarding GOP positions on abortion and women’s health care.”
  • “Expose the Democrats for the extreme views they hold,” the document says, arguing, “Joe Biden and the Democrats have extreme and radical views on abortion that are outside of the mainstream of most Americans.”

It is clear that Republicans are encouraging candidates to remain disciplined during a time when attacks are sure to be coming from the left.
